he Great Wall of China is one major destination for all tourists who go to china. Most people mistake it for a continuous wall but in truth its short walls that follow the hills on the Mongolian plain. It extends about 4160 miles and wad built in two phases.
The smaller part was built to keep the Mongols out of china and was built with stones during the Ming Dynasty.
It is almost 25 feet high and 30 feet wide and at the top it is almost 12 feet wide. But the Mongols found it very easy to breach the wall.
This alter became a major tourist attraction and has almost 15 million tourists visiting every day. It is said that in 1932 the wall was visible from outer space but then was later disproved.
This structure has a lot of stories to tell of the builders and Mongol invaders .Alas! If only stones could talk, what tales we would hear.

The reason for it tobe built was solely protection of its citizens from invasion threats from the nomadic tribes, Turks and Mongols. Nomadic tribes’ belonged to Manchuria. People of Mongolia who posed a threat on china were known as Xiongnu.
The Great Wall of China had many holes on the top through which the warriors were able to have a better view of the attacking enemy from outside.
